Benefits/Securtiy/Union
Filed Under Uncategorized | 1 Comment
Educators receive great benefits and security from their careers. Employed by their local government, they get paid for holidays, vacation, personal/family leave, and a few sick days. Also, teachers have unions, which provide structure and legal protection. In some unions, teachers are required to pay a union fee once a year, which is called an “agency fee.” The union protects teachers in the event of a lawsuit. For example, if the teacher fails a student and the parent of the student thinks the teacher is being unfair, the parent could sue. In this case, the union works on behalf of the teacher. In addition, another benefit that can be tied to the union is an employment contract. In other words, the contract states principals are not allowed to hold teachers from attending one meeting per month and after school hours, attend meetings during lunch time, and patrol the hallways and lunchrooms. Teachers’ unions provide liability insurance. Another benefit is that the local district pays for their health care, retirement, and life insurance. Teachers that stay with the school board for several years earn seniority. Moreover, knowing that they have a secure job, educators have seemingly less stress than other professions.
Overall, teachers work hard and give lots of time and attention to their students. This provides a future example of how much dedication instructors put into their career. Thus, this career is attractive to future educators for a number of reasons. Teaching is not only a career; it is an experience; in that, although teachers teach and guide children, they also learn from their students each and every day. The employment opportunities in today’s society are many. Even though employment proves to be demanding for those in the teaching profession, its benefits outweigh its demands. Teachers not only teach the student of today; they secure their own futures for tomorrow.

Good Teachers

At work today one of my coworker that is English major helped me with my paper. I was glad that she took the time to help me out with this paper that’s due next week for my English class. Even tho she had a lot of things she knew that had to be done but inked she helped me out unlit I wrote my paper write. She helped me out with my grammar, organizing and proof reading it. There aren’t many teachers like her. She’s the type of teacher that would stay with you unlit you comely understand. We need teachers like that. That will put effect and time to their students to make sure the students understand and no students left behind. In the past i have seen teachers that do not care about their students and just getting their paychecks. And that what makes me upset because we are paying tax money that they get to get paid. That’s just wrong. The parents expect teachers do to their jobs and make a difference and educate their children. Our children today are our leaders for our future. If the children do not get their proper education where would they be at in life or doing?? The fact is that parents should make sure that their children teachers are doing their job and making appointments through out the school year to talk about what their child improments. It’s very impornment that every student gets the proper education to assure a better future to become successful throughout their life. And that’s what every parent wants for their children.

Exchange Students
Filed Under Uncategorized | 2 Comments
I was reading information about exchange students (nineteen teenage students)coming to America to see what it is all about America’s High schools. It was very interesting that nineteen teenagers from a different counrty would come here to experience what high school is really like. Coming from a different courty and not knowing the language is pretty hard and having a dictionary to help the student get by. I think it was a good blog about exchange students coming here because they get to have an experience how our education system works here and different subjects and how hard is to get by with not understanding the language we speack and with just a dictionary to get by . It also teach’s them to understand of different cultures and few of things that work in high school. It would be great to go to other courty and learn different cultures and give up the familiar routines of their your home countries to embark on a life-changing experience. It teachs how to be responsible and self- confited. With these nineteen teenagers have experinced many new things like, they have different math classes, changing to classes for different subjects, and shorter days. Also playing other sports that they have played in their home courty like baseball to soccer. Another good thing about this is that the exchange student teacher also will learn something about that student. For example, the exchange student will talk about how the education system works in their home courty. A few teachers here are intereted in how other courties curriculums work. These nineteen teenages are very brave to leave there home conrty and move to a hole new different place. For some studnet like myself would be up for if I had that chance when i was in high school.

Cons
Filed Under Uncategorized | 1 Comment
Well I have already talked about pros, now I will talk about cons in this profession. No one likes cons in their job or career but people just have to deal with it because as we all know life is not far and sometimes we do not get want we want. There are not to many cons about this profession. To start off teachers do not make enough money in their career in what they do. They bring home with them meaning the emotional aspects of this profession. Also after their work hours they still bring home paperwork, report cards, IEP’s and PEP’s.
Some teachers are not part of a union in certain schools and states. Next, sometimes parents give stress to educators about their children. In today’s world parents sometimes do not have time left to help their children with their homework and actives. Teachers get over crowded classroom and do not have enough time sent with each student to get their needs helped. It is very important for parents to be including their time and effort for their children education. At times, some principles will not support teachers when parents are having a problem with a teacher. Principles should always back up and support their teachers at their school because it show that everyone helps each other. Teachers are a special part of our education system today. We need to respect them and give them credit and more funding for teachers all around the United States.

Pros
Filed Under Uncategorized | 1 Comment
In this blog for this week I will talk about Pros about the job for teachers. However, every job and career has pros and cons to it. There are a few pros about this career that I would like to talk about. First, teachers have it made for them. They work Monday through Friday from seven thirty to three thirty and have weekends off. Educators have several breaks through out their day at least two to three times each day. How that happens is that the school has special actives’ such as, art, Music, and PE that releases the teachers to his/her breaks. Also, teachers work one hundred and eighty day out of the year. Here comes the best part about this career.
Educators get paid for holidays and vacation. For example, Labor Day, M. Luther King Day, two weeks in December for Christmas, one week in March, and the hole summer. A few teachers decide to work in the summer time to make a little bit of more money but that is his/her choice if they want to. In addition, teachers have sick and personal days they can take off during each year, five days is the max per year. Also in some school districts will pay one hundred percent your health care benefits, which at my school they do and also to asstiants. It is one of the best careers that someone should have and having several breaks throughout the year. Teachers have a great deal with their careers.

Teachers Salaries
Filed Under Uncategorized | 4 Comments
The Florida Department of Education say’s “new teachers with little or no experience will make a salary that is lower than teachers with more years of experience.” “For example, Florida teachers with less than three years of experience make an average of $34,488, while teachers with 10 to 20 years of experience make an average of $46,051.” “Pay levels increase with each additional year of experience. A teacher with a master’s degrees will have a higher average teacher salary.” In other states like Texas, New York mostly have master’s degrees and in Florida have Thirty-five percent had it. All is information is at http://www.fldoe.org/news/2006/2006_05_09.asp
Well is what I think of; the salaries for teachers suck. Teachers work hard and give lots of time and energy to their students and that’s all they get for?? Professional sports is a multimillion dollar industry and teachers are struggling to get by? Teachers do not get much credit for their hard work and dedication while athletes make more money in one year then teachers make in a life time. When teachers are responsible for teaching our children how to be successful in today’s society. We need more funding for education from the government to pay our all of our teachers for their hard work. I give lots of respect and credit to every teacher because I know it is a stressful job and they work hard at what they do everyday in the classroom. The reason I know this is because I work as a teachers assistant and I know what they go through.

Qualifcation To Becoming a Teacher
Filed Under Uncategorized | 3 Comments
To becoming a teacher in the State of Florida anyone who has a Bachelors degree in education or in any other major and also a Master’s can teach; however, a master’s degree is not required in Florida but in others states yes. Also, teaching candidates must pass the Florida Department of Education exams. There are three state exams to qualify, general knowledge, Subject area exam and Professional Education exam. When that process is done and the candidate passes the state exams then he/she is qualified to teach. Next step is applying for a job in a private school or public school. However, the Florida Department of Education says “Florida Education Majors or Minors Who Have Not Completed A State-Approved Program will begin the process by applying for a with Temporary Certificate, so that he/she may begin teaching full-time while you complete your remaining certification requirements.” The candidates have one year to complete requirements while teaching in that year. This will also include for Out-of-state Graduates and Education Majors from Countries Other Than the United States. http://www.fldoe.org/ Furthermore, every five years teachers have to complete certain points; for example, workshops and courses to get there certification renewed. Teachers have to make sure all these workshop and course are done to presume their career and have the opportunity of learning more things during their career to be better teacher. It is a good opportunity to learn things while the candidate goes through this process and can help other candidates if they need help.

Teachers make a positive impact in children’s lives. To start off, they are role models to our children. Children look up to them when the teacher is nice, has a good relationship with the child, and can be respected to be honest and fair. Educators inspire children to gain confidence, to be independent and to be motivated. Children are intelligent and curious, and they want to learn new things in class. The role of the teacher is to guide their students to explore life challenges and learn about subjects and their environment. Educators will encourage the students to think in a positive way and to develop independent thinking and good self-esteem. Communication between the teacher and the students is necessary so that the relationship between one another is very strong and trust worthy. Students want to feel comfortable around their teachers and know that they can approach them when they have a problem they need to talk about. Every teacher has a different teaching style, but they all have methods and materials they need to get their students on their way to achievement. The teacher sets the needs and goals for the student, keeping in mind that children have individual needs. Teachers take responsibilities to insure the students are achieving to their need levels. Most importantly, educators try to teach the students to overcome their fear of failure. Students need to know that it is OK to make mistakes, but they will learn from these mistakes. They will learn to be self-confident learners. Clearly, teachers are guiding lights to our children lives.

Personal Inspiration
Filed Under Uncategorized | 1 Comment
My personal inspiration in teaching was my parents. I grew up with two wonderful people who showed me how they inspirited children to be self-confident, independent, and responsible. When I had a day that I was free, I would volunteer at their school and be with them in their classroom. During the time I volunteered, I learned many things such as, working with children and having patience. Also, I leaned some teaching techniques, for example, learning strategies for students for different learning levels. I noticed right away that I wanted to be a teacher ever since it felt wonderful helping children and it’s very rewarding to see children develop and progress throughout the year. Educators make sure society is literate.
My occupation is working at a charter school as a teacher’s assistant. Working with the students is very gratifying. Not only do I work with them, I learn from the as well. It has been a great experience for me. Moreover, I’m now in school earning my degree in this area. The teaching skills I am currently learning will prepare me for my future role as an educator. I believe one can make a difference in child’s life by educating them using learning strategies that will help them in the future.
My model of teaching is that educators have to be interested in learning as well as teaching. We as people, whether instructors or not, learn each and every day. Teachers are here for a purpose: to give knowledge to the future leaders of our world.
