iraq_warprofiteers.jpg     Throughout the past several years we have been hearing more and more about how our congressmen, senators, and other polititians have been increasingly involved  in shamely scandals which have gotten them indicted and in worse cases incarcerated. In 2005, Florida representative Vern Buchanan an owner of several Florida car dealerships raised over 110,000 dollars for his political campaign by pressuring the employees of his numerous car dealerships in only a seven day period. Buchanan made false commitments of riembursing  employees for thier multi thousand dollar donations and he also bribed them with illegit vacations.

Politicians like Vern Buchanan must be stopped. They are using thier positions to make large sums of dirty money and they had completely forgotten about  the people which are suppose to be the main priority.

Although it is easy to see how corrupt some politicians are congress have yet to pass laws that stop them from thier dishonest endevors. According to Charlie Cray of the Multinational Monitor  a helpful reform would be :

  • Cutting lawmaker-lobbyist financial ties;
  • Banning corporate-funded air travel;
  • Banning gifts to members of Congress and their staff;
  • Slowing the revolving door by which individuals shuttle between government and corporate/lobbyist positions;
  • Strengthening lobby disclosure requirements; and
  • Establishing an independent agency to oversee and enforce ethics rules and lobbying laws.

I for one agree with Charlie Cray, this simple reform would drastically reduce the amout of corruption in Congress.

I recently read an article on fox news saying how former vice president Al Gore took a page from Mahatma Ghandi and Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. by calling for “civil disobedience” to combat against the production of new coal power plants. I agree one hundred percent with Al Gore. U.S coal power plants release billions of tons of harmful carbon dioxide and pollution into the atmosphere each year over the past two decades and I think that it is time for these old energy ideas to stop. We need new green energy plants that will inexpesively produce effiecient, affordable, clean energy. Until we receive the green energy plants that the earth needs, I suggest that we make ourselves heard by boycotting current coal factories and industries of the same sort.

 What Do You Think?

blog2.jpgOver the course of the past several months, I have noticed that as election time comes around we get to see the true colors of our polititians. I am specifically speaking about the slandering ads and commercials of Senator John McCain. Senator McCain has several commercials where he puts down his presidential rival Senator Barack Obama stating that he is more fit to be a celebrity than a presidential candidate. I personally see these slandering commercials as a sign of fear and weakness;which is not a good characteristic for a future president. McCain thinks that if he punches below the belt that he will be able to bring in a few extra votes but for people like myself who views his political stategies as a sign of weakness it only makes his rival Senator Barack Obama look like the better presidential candidate.
