Ok now I know everyone has been listening to the autotune craze thats been going on all threwout the radio stations. In case you dont really understand what autotune is its that weird voice thing that many artists have suddenly started  to use. It was used long ago by some artist back in the day and was brought back to the spotlight by now infamous artist T-Pain. Now when T-Pain first began to use autotune many people thought it was dumb, and silly. People even called him a fake artist. Now T-Pain is using autotune in every song he does. He is even in almost every remix you can think of! Great way to overcome negativety right? Who would have known that autotune would become so big! Now artist such as Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and even Rihanna are using it. But the one quenstion is do you feel its becoming a little too much? Will “real” music dissappear because of autotune? Because we all know that autotune is a mix between your real voice and the computer and if thats the case anyone can make a good song not being able to really sing. Personally I feel like with every other fad autotune will eventually die down and music will go back to being plain ol’ music. But for rite now why not enjoy the new change? Its nice to see a change in the music industry every now and then. It shows that the artist and the music labels are trying new things and that it is working. Especially if an artist like a Kanye West can come out with a whole entire album done in autotune and cell half a million copies in the first week! Autotune is now considered real music. How crazy is that!?

To me music is a story. The lyrics, the beat, and even the tempo all make up the story the song is trying to tell. This is were the importance of a music video comes in. A music video is the actual visual to the story the song is trying to tell. Does a music video help the listener figure out the story or is it possible the listener figure out the story without it? The answer is both, often a music video gives a clearer meaning of a song but it is possible a listener understand a song by just the lyrics alone. What if there were no music videos? Well the truth is our minds would have to use more imagination to put together the picture a particular song is trying to paint, but my personal oppinon is that music videos give a song so much more life and meaning to it. A music video helps to draw more attention to a song also. Sometimes a person may not here a song on the radio and like it, but may go home to see the video and end up getting attracted to it. A music video can help a songs popularity tremendously. But it can also harm it. If a music video is poorly directed or is very negative it can sway people away from that particular song. Music videos bring a hole new meaning towards music and without music videos peoples perseption of a song would be no where near the same.

The title of this particular topic that I have chose to write about (one hit wonder) may sound funny, but it most deffinetly excist. Now many people hate one hit wonders because, they either feel like it is a song that is pointless or feel the artist of the song has no “real” talent. But aren’t there some one hit wonders that you like, for the moment? Now from a personal point of veiw I have found myself to be a person who both enjoys and hates one hit wonders. I mean what purpose do they surve but to entertain you for the couple of months that you listen to it rite? Afterall your most likely never going to go out and purchase the cd! Though at the same time some one hit wonders you will never forget until this day. When you here them come on the radio oddly you turn it up. Gladly some one hit wonders you appriciate. How crazy is that? For example the song “too sexy for my shirt”, now we all no this song and tend to laugh or sing along when we here it. The humor in the song alone is enough to make people gladd that it was written. But did we actually go get the album that this song was on? For most of us the answer is no. Yet if there was a choice to have the song not excist it would most likely not be taken. Its funny how one hit wonders are  never taken that seriously yet they make history. Its kind of like a love hate relationship. You dont want to like the song because deep down you know it makes not much sence, yet you still get up and shout all the lyrics when you here of it. At the end of the day there will always be one hit wonders and there will always be people who think they are just plane stupid to listen to. But what would the world be without a good ol’ one hit wonder?!

Hip-hop culture and the rap music at its core are enormously influential, Honestly I agree with what the author of this particular article has to say anout rap music. The author explains that like rock n roll rap was considered wrong, something many adults would not accept or aprove for there children to listen to. For this very reason rap became bigger and better than it was before. The more people would not accept it the more it came to the light. It was not the adults finally accepting it that made rap come alive it was the youth who were listening to it or in other words defying their parents in order to here a fiew verses that would influence their lives in a positive way. The author of the article states that what drew people to rap music was the excitement and the brutal truth about what was going on in life. Rap drew much attention both negative and positive and for that reason it became so popular. I agree with the author on the idea that rap is nolonger tied to one theme such as being a “gangsta.” Rap now influences all kind of people and it is now collaborating with other artist from completly different generes. How did rap become so international? Thats a question that is explained clearly in this article. The development of rap became by the attention it recieved when it first surfaced until now. Rap is just another great genre of music like the rest and although there still may be people who may not accept it, rap will never die it will continue to excell.

Can you imagine there not being any music? How boring would driving in the car be. Would people even dance? What exactly would they dance to? See as crazy as this topic may sound I dont think people know how big of an impact music has on their life. Without music many kids would not have an instrument to play. Without music many artist would not have a job in entertainment. Without music there would be no wedding song. And the most imortant of all, without music those long car rides would be extremely boring! So though you may take those ridiculous songs you sometime here on the radio for granted, you should stop and think what if there was no music.

Rap artist like Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Common, Nas, and a lot others have shown nothing but support for Obama since before he got elected. Now when I say support I dont mean by wearing t-shirts and putting bumper stickers on their cars. These artist have literally put Obamas name and their view on how he plans to run the country in the lyrics of their songs. One of the most famous songs remixed to support Obama is from the original track “A Milli” by Lil Wayne. This song went from just being a sample of messing around in the music studio to a popular ringtone. The song takes the chorus and instead repeats Obamas name over and over again. This shows that even politics effects the music industry. It also shows that people are not afraid of showing the public how proud they are of their choice of a presidential candidate. I personally feel like this was the most historical election to ever take place, and for that very reason is why it even went so far as to effect the music industry. Seriously when President Bush, or President Bill Clinton got elected were there songs about them? Just the thought of it gives me great pride to be able to say such a historical election took place during my time, and I have music to remember it.

Downloading free music is illegal, but should it be and why? Alot of people may not know that downloading music for free is illegal. Many might not even understand why. The question I ask is, is it really worth getting your internet access taken away by the government for a song that you could have purchased for under five bucks? Lately word has spread that the government is starting to crack down on the laws against illegal music downloads and penalties for doing so. But why of all things is this so important? Shouldn’t the govrnment be worrying alot less about a couple songs people get for free and worry about things that can actually affect someone physically or mentally in the community?Afterall its just a song! Well truth is record labels and artist do not want to feel as if they are getting cheated. It is a team of people including the actual artist who put in hard work for their cd’s and other forms of music holders to be released at a decent price. So if people are downloding music without paying for it, then technically they are working for free! Support that team, and pay for your music usage!

Does music get darker and moodier as the economy crashes? I was reading a particular blog that asked if a crashing economy can  affect the tone of music in a negative way. I feel as if music has a way of being able to portray the exact opposite of how bad the economy may be. I do feel that if the economy is bad you will hear more positive or uplifting styles of music verses darker moodier music. For example John Mayers song “waiting on the world to change.” When negative things are happening throughout your city or country the music industries go into a positive overload, things that they would normally not speak of in a positive environment they will speak of in a positive uplifting song, to reasure people that everything will work out in due time. The songs can still speak of your bad economy without being dark or moody. I also feel as if music continues to do its own thing regardless of how the economy may be; in other words continue its style instead of worrying about all the things going on to allow people to feel things are ok and nothing is changing. Music can become a very tricky thing, and I beleive that it can speak of what negative is going on without being dark and scary. What do you think?

Different types of music has been known to influence different styles of dance for as long as we know. For example reggae music influences a more vulgor or free type of dance, r&b has influenced more modern type of dance, rock has influenced hard core dancing, and so on. But is it possible to brake out of our comfort zone, think out of the box and start being able to connect certain generes of music with types of dance that we are not used to seeing? For example can ballet be done to a hip hop song? And would people start to except it? These are all questions that have been asked and in some way or another has been answered. For example an artist by the name of “Big Boi” recently put on a ballet show in Atlanta featuring Atlanta’s Ballet. On stage he performed some of his latest hip hop/rap hits while the dancers performed a ballet routine. It shows that just because we are used to seeing ballet done to a softer wordless taste of music, does not meen that it cannot be done a different way while still attracting a crowd. I believe music can influence all types of dancing weather it be the “norm” or completly something more than what the average mind would expect. If people can except change than the world of music and the types of dance it influences can become out of this world and absolutely brilliant!

The reason I chose this particular subject is because I feel people all throughout the world listen to different generes of music that may affect the way they think or react without them realizing it. Music is something everyone can relate to being that there is a wide range of music to select from. The question I ask is how does music affect a person? Is it true that a sad song can make you sad, or that a happy song can make you happy? Or is it that you listen to a sad song because you are already sad, or listen to a happy song because you are already happy? It is said that your music selection can influence the way you act or think, but has it been proven? Often it is the lyrics of a song that may have an affect on a persons mind verses the beat or the tempo. Not only that but music can even affect the way you may react to something said or done to you. For example if you listen to a song whose lyrics involve gun violence on a daily basis are you more likely to become apart of gun violence than a person who does not listen to that particular genre? A positive outlet on how music may affect ones mind depending on the lyrics is that many songs can educate you while at the same time please you. For example a song that speaks of what is going on in the world and how to make the world a positive place becomes more than just a song to listen to just for listening purpose, it becomes a source of knowledge and enjoyment at the same time. Also it is important to think about how music may affect how you dress or who you may choose to hang out with. Often a person who may spend alot of time listening to rock music for a example may end up dressing similar to a particicular rock artist, or even hanging out with more people who listen to that particular genre. Each of these things I believe must be taken into consideration when choosing what to listen to, because a person may be influenced by a song without them even noticing it.
