It all depends on who you ask. There isn’t a short or specific answer for this crisis. Unfortunately, current discussions and proposals to deal with the lack of affordable health care and/or health insurance primarily involve arguments about who should pay for the steadily rising costs, without truly addressing the problem of why costs are rising in the first place. There are calls for the government to solve the problem, by either providing financial assistance to buy health insurance, or by adopting a Canadian-style national health care system. So far, the federal government has only responded by creating a drug program for Medicaid patients. The main problem with current approaches is that only a very weak link exists between money and treatment effectiveness, which has caused insurers to actually reward inefficient medical care and unhealthy behaviors. There is one other option that is viable, although painful, and that option is to do nothing. The most likely result of inaction will be that increasing costs and declining numbers of insured will cause most insurers to either go out of business or stop offering medical coverage. The loss of insurance money would then result in the bankruptcies of hospitals as well as many doctors and possibly some drug companies. Many people will have to do without some forms of health care. But in the aftermath, alternatives to health insurance would appear, such as the discount health plans that are already available, and prices of medical care would fall dramatically when insurance money was no longer available, so that the uninsured could perhaps afford at least some level of medical treatments. It will take time to implement, and some modifications will probably be necessary health care costs should stabilize and then actually decline over time. That should, in turn, help resolve many of the other health-related issues, such as who pays, the large number of uninsured.

Medicaid.

Like medicare, medicaid is a government’s program eestablished with the sole purpose in helping poor people. Under this program, you could be poor, but not necessarily mean that you will be qualified for this program. Medicaid is available only to certain low-income individuals and families who fit into an eligibility group that is recognized by federal and state law. Medicaid does not pay , or give checks to their recipient, instead the money is send directly to the health care provider. The medicaid programs varies from state to state. Event for those living in the nursing room, the system has special rules , and for disabled children living at home. The medicaid compares to the medicare program, is like a back up plan, whenever you need help, it will be there for our services. Like medicare, which is available to elders, blind people, pregnant women, disabled children, you still has to go through all the channels to be qualifier.Medicaid is available only to certain low-income individuals and families who fit into an eligibility group that is recognized by federal and state law. Medicaid does not covered or provide medical assistance for all poor persons. Even under the broadest provisions of the Federal statute (except for emergency services for certain persons), the Medicaid program does not provide health care services, even for very poor persons, unless they are in one of the designated eligibility groups. Low income is only one test for Medicaid eligibility; assets and resources are also tested against established thresholds. As noted earlier, categorically needy persons who are eligible for Medicaid may or may not also receive cash assistance from the TANF program or from the SSI program. Medically needy persons who would be categorically eligible except for income or assets may become eligible for Medicaid solely because of excessive medical expenses.

One in many health program we do have here in the United States of America is medicare. Medicare is a governmental institution, established with the mind set in helping poor people, children with disabilities, blind people, pregnant women, aged people and anybody with any types of disabilities. The medicare program is a very strict program, it takes in consideration your income, your assets. In general the medicare program varies from state to state, it could be that one state offers a better service than another. Certain state has they call “state-only”program. Those programs are not covered by Federal funds. The medicare program doesn’t pay money directly to his recipient, but rather to the health care providers. The system is trying to prevent fraud from certain people who wants to abuse the system. The medicare program base on is underline could be the best system in the country, but it is still far from reaching is goal. There is a lot of people that their main goal is to sabotage the system, by filling false claims. This concept makes it very hard for the people in need to receive the services needed. By doing this kind of to the program, they will force the system to run out of money, and left the poor people, the children’s, the disabled not getting the service so needed. The medicare program event go retroactive up to three months, from the time they apply to receive the services. Besides certain bumps in the system, the medicare program remains one of the best service for the poor.

Health care and the economy.

Could the economy have an impact on the health care? As we all can see now, we are in the verge of an economic crisis. People have to make a lot of changes as far as money is involved. Study shows that 75 percent of the population is living below poverty level. The economy crisis is affecting all of us, regardless of your race, religion, color, background. This economy crisis is like a domino effect. When we took a look in the business world, a lot of stores are closed right now, and more are expected to go out of business. The results, of all those business going under have a direct impact on individual and also families. Losing your job is a big lost that lead a person to lost health coverage. In the United States Health coverage is a big issue when you are not working. By law when you got laid off from your job, the company should provides an alternate plan. The most common plan that the companies offers is the Cobra insurance. The cobra is very expensive, almost triple of what was your co-pay from employer. In that case, the portion that your employer used to cover on your behalf is gone; you end up with the all cost now. This is a very sad situation, your income is next to zero, but you still have to come up with that money. The economy crisis leads to a very big problem “health crisis.” We all know that health care walks hand in hand with the economy.

One of the most beautiful gift someone could received or expected is a child. A child could bring a lot of joy in a family, that child often time is the center of that family. As parents we always want to do our best to provide the best of everything for our children. Sometimes our heart’s desire doesn’t match the reality we are living in.
One of the challenges a parent could face, when raising a family, is found the best health care assurance for your children. Found the best health care insurrance depends on a lot of factors specially finance. Those days found an affordable health care is almost impossible. Most often when parents can’t afford the premium, they turn towards the government for help. For them the government should be able to help, after all that’s what the government is for. The government should help whenever help is needed, sometimes this isn’t the case. A friend of mine one of her children was born with a birthdefect that requires lifetime Dr.’s care. The financial burden was too much for my friend, because each Dr. visits requires a co-pay . Those co-pays put a strain on my friend already strugle financial situation. My friend did try to apply for some financial support , the government denies her, stated that she makes too much money. That answer was a chock for the both of us, we could not believe that the governement had denied her base on that to poverty salary. My friend’s situation is the real proof that the health care system in the United states needs a major make over.

Health care in America for veterans.
Filed Under Uncategorized | 1 Comment
Last week was a very beautiful and interesting week. I had the privilege to watch the veterans parade on television. Those veterans were very proud of themselves, and their families were there to support them. I am very grateful of their services, I couldn’t ask for any better. Those women and men are the best, they deserve all the respect for their services. While I was watching the news about the veterans, a very specific subject was brought to my attention. Since those veterans are old, what kind of health insurance do they have? Base on the report the health insurance they offer them isn’t that great, consider all the sacrifices they made. It is so difficult for some of them to get a Dr. appointment, because isn’t enough doctors for the amount of veterans. If they do have an appointment, the transportation become an issue. Sometimes they have to sacrifice brand name medicines for generic names. The result, they end up having to take more medicines, which most often cause terrible side effects. It is a good idea to offer those veterans the services they deserve, but the health care services needs improvement. The government can do a better job, by providing more funds into the program. The veterans need a better qualify health care system, where they do not have to worry about high co-pay. Some veterans sometimes had to choose between a meal or a co-pay, that should never happen. Hopefully the new government will be more considerate towards those veterans, who deserve so much a better health care.

Universal health care

Call me crazy , universal health care could be a possibility here in America. Like other countries with less money than America has free health care for their citizen. The health care system could be so simple if people put their greed on the side. In America money should not be a problem because we are the richest country in the world, with that in mind, we can do it if we are willing to try it. Yes, they take a lot of taxes on us, whatever left over isn’t enough to take care of our bills. For some families their bills are way more than their checks. When we add everything we have to buy, gas, groceries, clothes, the list goes on, we really don’t have no change to spare. Study shows now 75% of the population has no health Insurance, this is a crisis base on that study. Could the country keeps heading on that direction? I will say no, because without a solid foundation we can’t progress. The result could be worse if the governement don’t do anything about it.When we have to rush a family member to the hospital. We have seen family going bankrupt, because they didn’t have any health insurance. A lot of families hand up with thousands of dollars of bills, they couldn’t never be able to repay. I will hope that the government take that in charge, and found a way to offer universal health care to all citizens, just like other countries less powerful than America are providing to their citizen.

Illigal immigrants and health care.
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
One of the most important people in the United States of America should be the immigrants. As we celebrated last week the victory of the democrat president-elect, I had the privilege to listen to the radio or watching television on how he won the election, where at least 30% of the votes come from immigrants’ votes. The election was so beautiful to watch, you couldn’t ask for any better. Those immigrants were so proud of themselves, the world was happy also. While I was watching the election, I started to ask myself , is there anything in this election for the immigrants? Before the election of course it was all about the promises , as I listened to one of the television’s program, they mentioned the health care for immigrants. I couldn’t believed what I was hearing, it was very disturbing. As I was listening to the report I said to myself why they threat them like that? The news stated that the health care services they offer them are not the best. They always have to wait a long time before they could see a Dr. in an emergency room. Their medicines isn’t always the brand name, they always has to go for the generic name. The immigrants should have some type of health care program for them, specially when they are the backbone of the economy, after all it will be the least to ask for. Without those immigrants we wouldn’t be where we are right now, they deserve better health care, better transportation to take them to and from Dr’s appointments. Their services to the country should be honored by all of us. Immigrants help us to be where we are today, let give them a change.

Governement and society.
Filed Under Uncategorized | 2 Comments
While I was reading about this blog “Health Crisis in America.”A lot of thoughts were going through my mind. Health has been always a concern of mine; I always thought that I was the only one who had these concerns. Unfortunately, the society we are living in is so self-centred. I notice that nobody cares about anybody. You are basically on your own.It seems like selfishness is a trend and the adults pass it alone to the young generation. Last May a friend of mine got sick. At age 37 he had a stroke, his life got turned upside down. I couldn’t believe how his life took a u-turn for the worse. He was a hard working man who worked two jobs. He is a taxpayer just like the rest of us who He had his life ahead of him with a lot to live for.
My friend was in a serious relationship for about three years. The most beautiful thing he was waiting on was his new born. I learned a lot from my friend’s sickness. Six weeks after his stroke he lost his job, his health coverage and all his savings were gone. He stayed in the hospital for 3 weeks and the hospital bill was about $70,000.00. I said to myself how worse could his situation get? No job. No savings. How could one survive one day see a week or months. I’m upset about my friend’s situation, not because he got sick, but at the way society has treated him. None of us would like to get sick, because we may be punished by the governement . This is absurd and unbelievable, but reality. When I think about the society that we are living in, it is disgusting to see how people are so greedy and selfish. As long as they are ok and their families, they don’t care about nobody else. This is the society that we are living in !!!!!!!!!!

Health crisis and young adults in America

Why health care in America is such a big issue?
The richest country in the north America, now is going to a health crisis.America is the most opulent country for that matter in the world. Base on our economy certains services should be so easy to receive, but the reality is a very different history . Specially for the young generation, who are clueless of the situation
When you are young and healthy, all you wanted to do is enjoying life to the fullest, no worries. Some youngs kids don’t event thing about reading the newspaper, the stock market, and the last thing in their mind is health. When you are in your twenty, you think that you are invincible. We enyoy whatever life throw at us in our young days, we work and spend it faster than we can imagine. In the event of a sickness where the reality is right tere, no turning back. Youngs adults face a lot of detb, that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Those detbs will transfer to their credit, keeping them from getting what they really need in the future. When you are a freshment in life, all the sudden you found yourself facing a mountain of detbs.Life is no longer fun, joyable when it was suppose to be.
Base on the American’s economie the governemnt should provide free health care for all its Citizen, specially young kids. To my opinion if you don’t take care of the young generation, how will they respond towards us later in life. The governement or whoever in charge of this nation nees to put their gredness on the side, and take care of what need to be taking care of.
