Separation of church and state has been a long disputed argument.  Even though many religious people may want there to be church and state together, in doing so it’s pushing one’s belief on others without giving them a choice.  What is the real reason for the separation of church and state?

One thing that many people may not know is that the separation of church and state is not actually in the constitution, and in fact it was only in a letter written by Thomas Jefferson in 1802 to the Danbury Baptist.  Thomas Jefferson believed in separation of church and state.  In his letter to the Danbury Baptist he states “Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions.”  The separation of church and state is necessary for the very reason that not everyone believes in a higher power.  In joining church and state, it would be pushing religion on everyone, those that believe and those that do not believe.

What is your pursuit of happiness, and in the end what is it all for?  Every day we live our lives as if there is a purpose for what we are doing.  Have you ever thought about why you do the things you do or why you have the job you do?  We as humans tend to do things from memory.  For example, we were once taught where we buy food and shop for clothes.  The older we get the more these tasks become repetitive. In the example of work, most people do it to make a living and hope to achieve their goals they have made.  Some people just like where they are at in life and have no desire to have any further goals.  Without a higher power life is meaningless and without a purpose our goals are pointless.  There would be no reason to achieve them, except for self pleasure fulfillment.

if we have no higher power then what is the purpose for us to live with morals or goals and what is the purpose of getting out of bed every morning or worrying about tomorrow or hurting others?  With out a higher power, what we do here is meaningless.  Yes it might further our generations but for how long and for what purpose?  It is possible for anyone to die at anytime.

humanism

Humanism is not a belief in a higher power; it is a belief in humans.  Humanism is the belief in man not in god or gods.  Author Coliss Lamont someone for humanism quotes in his article “Humanism Promotes Communing with Humanity, Not God.” “Humanism Promotes Communing with Humanity, Not God.”  In this belief there is no hope, no reason to achieve anything, once you die that is it, everything you have done you have done for nothing.  Although some might believe that they accomplished the things they did for their upcoming generation, when in fact that the generation that they provided for will die in time to and the generation after them and so on and so forth.  If this is how you believe why live for a better tomorrow or for others or worry about hurting others, when none of those things matter.  According to the Wikipedia encyclopedia “Humanism is a broad category of ethical philosophies that affirm the dignity and worth of all people, based on the ability to determine right and wrong by appealing to universal human qualities, particularly rationality.”  But what is the purpose in furthering our generation when at some point all will die and there will be nothing to look forward to after death.  Author Corliss Lamont quotes “each human being exists as an inseparable unity of mind and body, and that therefore after death there can be no personal immortality or survival of consciousness.”

In reading an article about humanism, “Humanism Promotes Communing with Humanity, Not God” the auther Corliss Lamont.  Humanism is the belief in man not in god or gods.  Corliss Lamont makes some good points in his article.  Corliss Lamont makes twelve basic points supporting his theory against religious ideas.  In his different points he talks about different opions on his thoughts about humanism.  in the belief of humanism he claims “each human being exists as an inseparable unity of mind and body, and that therefore after death there can be no personal immortality or survival of consciousness.”  He makes a good point, religions have no proof that there is life after death whether it be pleasant or unpleasant.  But he also has no proof that there is not life after death.  both sides of the argument need faith to believe in their theories.  But if those that believe in god or gods are right then things are looking pretty good for them after death.  But if they are wrong then they have nothing to lose.  Depending on the person if ones a moral person why not believe in a higher being, one is already on the right path.  If one is not a moral person then it does not matter how they live.  If they do not believe in any higher power living how they choose is their own decision, and what they do is up to them and their should be no consequence for their actions.  Needless to say that arguing over life after death is an endless argument.

why did you get out of bed today? was it to go to work, maybe you had classes? maybe you had some plans today?  whatever the reason for why you got up today, what is the purpose for the things you do. is it to build a future for you?  maybe to help build the future for the kids you’ll have someday or that you have.  but whats the point? why should we follow the rules of the law, where did the rules origionaly come from an who decided to have them, and why? obviously most rules we have are here to protect us from hurting each other and ourselves but without a purpose of being whats the point in living or following these rules.  there has to be some reason why we are here and why things work the way they do, the universe and everything in it is to complex to have been just a mistake.

a teacher i once had in highschool once asked us, in theory if there were a heaven an hell, if you had a choice would you rather have never existed and not know anything of what life or living is like or live life to the fullest, find someone to love, everything you want an live to 100, but then when you die spend eternity in hell.  someone asked him what would he do?  and he said he’d go to hell.  i don’t remember exactly why he said that is what he would choose.

i met this girl the other night and we were talking and the subject of religion came up and she told me that her idea of religion was being a good person and doing good to others, kinda like “the golden rule”  this is a good thing to try to do but she had no purpose with her thoughts of being good.  she didn’t believe in a god or gods or heaven and hell but just we are here and there isn’t or doesnt have to be anything else, or after we die. we die and thats it.  i asked her why she didn’t believe in heaven or hell or in gods and devils?  she said she just didn’t, and said if there was a God or gods why is there so much pain here on earth?  If he really cared like he says he did, would he not protect us and let us live forever and take us in his arms in heaven?  why would some of us get to go to heaven and most others go to hell? and if there is only one God why is there so many different religions, why does he not show us and just come out and say that He is the alpha and Omega.  then she said but maybe he does? would everyone even believe it if he said it?  he says it in the bible but not everyone believes it or believes that the bible is even full truth, but instead out stretched stories to prove a point and bring some excitment to it.

i’m blogging on religion for scientists.  in this blog the scientist he is taking about do not believe in the idea of God, gods or faith.  they ask him “where is faith,” “where is God.” but i don’t see how they could ask a question like that, when the answer is all around them, look at the universe, the earth, people, animals, and plants.

If there is no God or gods or a higher power or heaven or hell, why should we follow the rules we have.  yes the rules we have are here to protect us, but why protect us and where and why did they originate.  and why do we need protection, an who makes up the morals and good and bad if there is no higher power.

He also talks about Metareligion: many religions are similar but the probablem with this is the differences in each religion are huge and are different enough so they can not be mixed together to one religion.  they do not all agree with the same matters and have their own view of God and different ideas of faith.

faith in many different religions has the same principles in them.  in christianity faith is towards Jesus Christ “God” its putting all of ones self in reliance to God believing He will always be there for you and has made a heavenly place for all that believe.  In Buddhism, Hinduism,  Islam,  and Christianity they all have the same basics in there faith, that is belief, profession, unshaken belief, and a conviction towards God, allah, buddha.  a few of these religions are very similar with only a few differences which sets them a part in a big way.  some of the differences is just in the founders in the religion.

trinity

islam and christianity, two different faiths but both are assumed to believe in the same God. they both believe that there is one God and he is allah. although islam believe that God did not take the form of man, “Jesus”; Christians on the other hand do and believe that “Jesus”; was God in the form of man. Islams believe Jesus was a great prophet of God but not God himself, islam’s main prophet is muhammad.
In the christian faith christians believe in what they call the trinity which is the father son and holy ghost, the father being God the son is jesus and the holy ghost is the holy spirit. they are three in one, christians believe that they are different and yet the same. this is a hard concept to understand or even explain, epsecially to someone who has not been brought up in the christian faith or whom does not believe. one thought i have began to wonder in this christian faith is what would happen if the father son and holy ghost became their own and split. what would happen to those in heaven or those that are going to heaven. would God tell those that are their or those going that "there is no room for you here." would God create a new earth, would jesus roam the earth and find himself a bride, would the holy spirit take off and just disapear. what could cause such a tragidy in the christian faith
Could it be possible that Jesus created a women specially for him, or maybe he fell in love with someone here on earth, and when she died she had nothing to offer to God and Jesus could not fend for her. So she would be brought to hell for all eternity, maybe Jesus would save her and betray His father and in a sense run away with her.
